Disturbing the peace since 1985.
Over the past two decades I've performed with a variety of orchestras, chamber groups, and artists including PitchBlak Brass Band, Pharoahe Monch, John Hodgman, The Bengsons, Patriot Brass Ensemble, Melissa Li & the Barely Theirs, Trumpet Grrrl, TubaFresh, and Kermit the Frog. I've played in such New York musical theater productions as Thoroughly Modern Millie, Sweeney Todd, and Hello Again and have toured with How the Grinch Stole Christmas and Hundred Days. I've twice been published by Tom Tom Magazine.
I have performed at renowned venues including Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center, Lincoln Center, Blue Note, Brooklyn Bowl, (Le) Poisson Rouge, and Joe's Pub.
Originally from Cumberland, MD, I have a Bachelors of Music from the University of Maryland and a Masters of Music from Mannes College, the New School for Music. I've studied with John Tafoya (National Symphony Orchestra), Michael Werner (Metropolitan Opera), Barry Centanni (Orchestra of St. Luke's), Allison Miller (Ani DiFranco/Brandi Carlile), and Tony Martucci (Joe Lovano). In 2017, Allegany High School – my alma mater – dedicated an award in my name: the Ashley Baier Award In Percussion Excellence, given to a graduating senior who demonstrates outstanding leadership and dedication to the highest level of musical performance.
I currently live in Brooklyn.
