Thanks for the pic, Asa!
In May, I had the opportunity to work with composer Julia Meinwald on a concert setting of her musical Pregnancy Pact at 54 below. I found all of her songs to be well-written and full of some serious ear candy. Check out this video of Phoebe Strole (Glee; Spring Awakening) singing "This Is It." The whole show is up on Youtube if you're so inclined!
Alaina, Brian, Bryan, and Chanell rehearsing in Pittsburgh
Usually I'm kind of anti-PA, not because of anything that state has or doesn't have to offer, but simply because - despite being the 33rd largest state by area - it takes FOR-EVER to drive through when heading anywhere west of NYC.
However, this weekend in Harrisburg and Pittsburgh with PitchBlak were simply off the chain! Pittsburgh particularly turned up hard. Our host there had the brilliant idea of letting us rehearse at his house Sunday morning instead of rehearing in Brooklyn that night after a seven hour drive. Best idea ever.
I had one of the most exhausting days in a long time this past Saturday. PitchBlak played three sets throughout the day at Kickstarter's extremely hip block party, followed by an hour and a half set at Barbes. Here's a sweet pic from the block party via Kickstarter's Instragram. Check out this sweet video clip too:
Come through if you're in the hood. We play at 10pm. Several other bands, cheap beer, and really, really great art.
Looking forward to playing with winner of "The Callback," Melanie Brook on Tuesday at 54 Below. Broadway World ran a little preview about the show. Check it out here and perhaps I'll see you Tuesday!
Baltimore was LIVE this weekend! Such a great time playing at Soundstage. Before the show we had some pizza at Joe Squared and afterwards we stopped by Brewer's Art for some tasty brews. The next day we stopped at Lost City Diner to #juiceup before heading back to NYC. It was a very Baltimore weekend and I can't wait to get back. Here we are with the legendary Kermit Ruffins after the show.
PitchBlak is about to take the road for our longest run of shows yet. Do you live in any of these cities? I always love meeting new people in new places, so let's hang!
I just got back from the first leg of PitchBlak's You See Us tour, which included stops in Buffalo, Traverse City, and Grand Rapids. We were lucky to play for amazing crowds at each venue, particularly at the Traverse City MicroBrew Festival. We met a lot of friendly faces and everyone was really enthusiastic about our music. It was an incredibly rewarding experience and I can't wait to hit the south for the second leg of tour in March! Shout out to Founders for the incredible hospitality! Free beer+ free food is unbeatable!
