PitchBlak laid down three tracks with Don Godwin at the Old American Can Factory in Gowanus, Brooklyn yesterday. With the exception of the vocals, we tracked everything live. I just heard the rough bounces and these tracks are going to be straight fire!
I used my Roland SPD-SX in the studio for the first time for some 808 bass drum and hi-hat sounds. We also ran the click from the SPD via the sub output on that same track (the only one we used click on). It ran like butter! I love that thing.
About to record three tracks with @pitchblakbrass. First time using the SPD-SX in the studio!

I'm happy to share with you this just-released recording of the new Trumpet Grrrl single. We recorded back in July with Grammy Award-winning producer Scott Jacoby. It was mastered by the masterly Emily Lazar (assisted by Chris Allgood) at the Lodge. I love it! If you like what you hear, please click to purchase.

I'm delighted to be working on Trumpet Grrrl's newest single, Love/Hate NYC. We hit up Eusonia Studios (where we also tracked Rain Boots) to work with Grammy-winning producer, Scott Jacoby. Here's a short clip I took while listening back to some of our session.
I've known Christina aka Trumpet Grrrl since our time together at the University of Maryland. She is one of the most unique, sincere, and FUN individuals I've ever met! Though she often plays solo, I've been fortunate to work with her a good bit over the last year since she's moved to NYC. I'm really happy with how her recording of "Rainboots" turned out. It was really a fun track to play on. Pick it up today and stay tuned for the rest of her EP to drop!

I had an awesome time finishing tracking the new PitchBlak album at The Bunker this weekend. Here's the whole crew, including our engineer, Aaron Nevezie, and his loyal assistant, Chico.
Here's the setup I'm using for the PitchBlak recording session:
1966 Ludwig Blue Sparkle: 14" Bass Drum, 12" tom
1939 Slingerland Radio King (on loan to the Bunker from JoJo Mayer): 12" and 16" toms
1950's Rogers Eagle Badge 14" snare
