I'm really digging the music of Ryan Scott Olivier and am delightful to play his music at the Beechman Friday night. If every young composer had drum charts as beautiful as him the world would be a happier place! Come through Friday night!

In May, I had the opportunity to work with composer Julia Meinwald on a concert setting of her musical Pregnancy Pact at 54 below. I found all of her songs to be well-written and full of some serious ear candy. Check out this video of Phoebe Strole (Glee; Spring Awakening) singing "This Is It." Had a nice time playing Fiddler for the Dwight School. Sting's son ran lights and apparently the bass man himself was in the house for the last show! Here's a pic of my set up. Due to space and budget restrictions, I programmed all of the mallet and timpani parts on my Roland SPD-SX. That machine never ceases to amaze me!
I had a blast subbing for three performances of Jasper in Deadland. Thanks to Jeremy Yaddaw for the opportunity. His kit (pictured) looks and sounds amazing!

I'm very excited for the first full staging of Mitch Kess's new musical, Horseplay, which opens Friday, Aug 9 as part of the 2013 New York International Fringe Festival. I first met Mitch playing on his show, The Deciders (which was a part of the Fringe in 2008), and we have been working out the music (which totally rocks) for Horseplay over the last two years. We start tech at La Mama tonight. You can get tickets here.

Chris Barron of the Spin Doctors also performed and my 10 year old self was totally stoked. He played two songs - the first was one he wrote about 5 years ago and was great. Of course he played "Two Princes" also and I just had to Vine it!
